Meet our customer hero
Since 2005, Shanghai-based Huaqin Technology has been a major provider of smart devices for global consumers from mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and smart wearables to IoT products and automotive electronics.
The manufacturer bridges the gap between hardware and software, to enable integrated development that meets the complex product needs of customers everywhere.
It invests heavily in research and development and boasts over 2,000 software engineers and nearly 1,000 software copyrights.
With five R&D centers across China (Shanghai, Dongguan, Xi'an, Nanchang, and Wuxi), Huaqin invests billions of yuan annually and employs over 12,000 R&D technicians (including key components manufacturers majority-owned by Huaqin) for all consumer electronics scenarios. Huaqin has been granted more than 3,000 intellectual property rights, including over 800 patents for invention, way more than its competitors.
Huaqin Technology’s dedication to customers goes right to the bone of the company. Its main purpose is to improve people's communications, making their lives better along the way.
Competition in Huaqin’s market for intelligent devices is fierce, as contenders battle for market share with some of the world’s largest information communications and technology providers (ICTs).
To address this, Huaqin remains agile and efficient - like a small company - while being large enough in in scale to fully compete. Research and development (R&D) is part of its DNA, giving Huaqin a further edge in creating smarter, more innovative products for its customers.
Huaqin’s efficiency in R&D product development was falling below industry standards, and it wanted to better structure and model the processes within its integrated product development (IPD) system.
To improve its efficiency of product development, R&D needed to be able to monitor each individual process. Often, if there was an issue, they would only discover it at the end of the cycle. Then they might have to start from the beginning and repeat the cycle all over again to try to find and solve it.
If there were errors or bottlenecks, R&D wanted to be able to see where they were and when they occurred. This would save them from getting to the end of the cycle and discovering there was a problem.
Huaqin chose ARIS Enterprise to structure, manage, control and model the IPD – with full lifecycle management. This was deployed by our partner ARISE Consultants (Suzhou consulting).
First, the team structured Huaqin's IPD processes through ARIS to gain online process maintenance and to monitor and identify processes – and enable continuous process management.
By combining the existing IPD business process architecture system with ARIS and solving the problems found, the IPD process is now managed throughout the whole life cycle. The efficiency of IPD is now up to 30% - an important industry milestone.
Since it went live, failures are down and efficiency is up. Errors can be seen when they occur – and fixed - removing the need for the team to start all over again from the beginning.
Today there are dozens of R&D staff using ARIS for the IPD system, and Huaqin plans to add more in the future.
